What’s in a Frame?
Framing your artwork does a lot more than simply add functional value to the art by protecting it from damage and making it easier to attach to your walls.
Not only will a frame enhance the overall look of your artwork. It will influence how viewers perceive and experience the art and determine how the art will influence and interact with your surrounding decor where it is displayed.
There are many ways in which you may frame your artwork. To take the stress out of framing I have outlined some framing options for you with the recommended style of framing that I personally use for all my artwork that compliments it so beautifully.
Classic Framing is my go-to choice for framing my artwork. The art is separated from the glazing (glass) using a top mat board as a border between the edge of the art and the box frame. This gives the artwork a traditional feel and look.

I always use glass over acrylic when framing my artwork. Glass is very resistant to scratches and has a luxurious look. However, as it is breakable, care must be used at all times when handling the artwork. Art glass is a beautiful anti-reflective glazing that provides 70% UV filtering and eliminates almost all reflections. I highly recommend it for all limited edition prints and original artwork to protect the value of the art over time, and prevent it from fading.
How to Choose a Frame for Art
When choosing a frame it is important to consider where the artwork will be placed. Not only is the frame important to compliment your artwork, but it will also reflect the personality that suits your home.
Below are the frame colour options that are available from The Left Bank Art Group. With more than 30 years of industry experience, I have been delighted with their exceptional quality and sustainable business practices. Left Bank Art Group uses globally surged materials and cutting-edge equipment. All frames are Australian-made with natural, acid-free materials. They use solid wood frames wherever possible, only from local, sustainable sources, and the mat boards used are acid-free.
My frame colour of choice is Wenge Oak. It is a beautiful chocolate-stained Tasmanian Oak that has depth and darkness to it that gives an overall warmth to the artwork whilst allowing the art the space to breathe without looking strictly confined to the frame. My home is full of stunning reclaimed wood furniture and earthy tones, which suits the feel of this colour frame.
Again, framing is a personal choice and something to consider with how your artwork will influence and interact with your surrounding decor.
